Kunstvlaai 2012

In the ‘festival of independents’, organised in an abandoned high school building, the non-profit art space ‘Upominki’ organised a relay-race (estafette) in one of the classrooms: ten day-shifts filled in by ten different artists who responded to the remainders of the work of their predecessors. For my shift I brought in a lot of objects that I during the day continuously rearranged. By doing this I made visual connections with work/material left by the other artists, the classroom and the school building as it was. Just outside the room, in the hallway, there was two screens of which one was connected to a live-stream camera in the classroom. On the other one I showed pictures from my archive of for example aerobics-classes and building sights. By rearranging the objects in the room I tried to find connections between those two images. It turned out to be an experiment on how much framing allows you to manipulate an image or a situation.
